Casual Outdoorsy Engagement Session

Something I hear all the time when chatting with couples is —

“But we’re super casual, we don’t really want a fancy or formal engagement session.”

You can 100% plan a casual, true to you engagement session that isn’t stuffy or formal. I’m all about helping my couples avoid people pleasing while planning their weddings, and doing a formal, fancy engagement session simply because that’s what everyone else posts on Instagram is just people pleasing in disguise!

How can you plan an engagement session that fees like you if you’re more casual?

1. Location

Are you adventurous casual or homebody casual? Choose a location that fits your vibe. If you love mountain sports, choose the mountains. If you spend all of you time together lounging at home, do a cozy in home or studio session. Taking your photos in whatever your natural environment is will feel more true to who you are as a couple.

2. Outfits

You don’t need to dress up. Wear what makes you comfortable and what fits the setting. Don’t stress about it - your favorite pair of jeans or your comfiest dress is totally acceptable.

3. (un)posed

As a casual couple, let your genuine connection shine through. Forget poses and staged moments. Focus on enjoying each other's company while I capture your candid interactions. You don’t need to pose and force smiles for an hour.

4. Keep it Simple

Keep it simple and personal. Bring a cozy blanket, your furry friend, or even a picnic basket with your favorite snacks. It's all about adding a personal touch without overwhelming what’s around you.

5. Trust your Photographer

Feel free to share your ideas, preferences, hobbies, and any quirks you'd love to incorporate. Collaboration is key to making this session uniquely yours.
